Who are these qualifications for?
The Level 5 qualifications in Management and Leadership are designed for practising middle managers who wish to develop their core management skills and practices. These qualifications focus on the personal development of the individual learner’s management capabilities and competencies.
The Level 7 qualifications in Strategic Management and Leadership are designed for directors and senior managers who have the authority and personal inspiration to translate organisational strategy into effective performance. These qualifications require directors and senior managers to build on their skills in strategic management and leadership and to focus on the requirements of inter-organisational strategy.
English Language Requirement
If your native language is not English, you must provide evidence of competence in the English Language. Proof of Secure English Language Test pass result must be required. CEFR B2 is required for NQF Level 7 and CEFR B1 is required for Level 5 course. MBMC will also consider the SKYPE interview (audio and video) to check english profficiency of the student. (CEFR B2 is equivalent to IELTS 5.5 - 6.5 and B1 is equivalent to IELTS 4.0 - 5.0)
The qualifications follow the new Award, Certificate, Diploma format where:
- Award is a concise qualification aimed at developing basis skills and knowledge at this level
- Certificate builds and broadens on the areas covered in the Award; and
- Diploma develops a comprehensive range of skills and knowledge required at this level.
Award: To achieve a CMI Award in Management and Leadership, you need to successfully complete at least level 5 – 6 credits and level 7 – 6 credits.
Certificate: To achieve a CMI Certificate in Management and Leadership you need to successfully complete any combination of units to a minimum level 5 – 13 credits and level 7 – 13 credits.
Diploma: To achieve a CMI Diploma in Management and Leadership, you need to complete all core units (Group A) and four optional units (one unit from Group B and three from Group C) to a total of at least level 5 – 62 credits and level 7 – 66 credits
How long will it take for Level – 5 ?
The time it takes to complete a qualification is dependent on the units you choose and delivery times and methods do vary from one Approved Centre to another. However, as a guide:
- The Award can take as little a 4-8 weeks
- The Certificate can take between 2-6 months
- The Diploma can take between 6 to 18 months
How long will it take for Level – 7 ?
The time it takes to complete a qualification is dependent on the units you choose and delivery times and methods do vary from one Approved Centre to another. However, as a guide:
- The Award can take as little a 8-16 weeks
- The Certificate can take between 6-12 months
- The Diploma can take between 18 to 24 months
How are these qualifications assessed?
Assessment is normally via practical assignments provided by your Approved Centre. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context. Please read the assessment information.
